Young Women Drinking Heavily, Not Impressing The Men

Filed in archive Lifestyles , Mind Games on March 13, 2009

Young women in college are drinking heavily under the misconception that doing so is sexually attractive and impresses their male counterparts.

However, a survey of 3,616 college students at two American universities revealed that the men are not impressed with such behaviors and that most college men are not looking for a woman who can match them drink for drink.

In the last decades, women have been steadily drinking heavily thereby bending the truth that men drink more than women.

The results showed 71 percent of women overestimated the men's actual preference of drinks at any given event. The women overestimated by an average of one-and-a-half drinks.

When the researchers looked at the different subgroups, 26 percent of women said that men would most likely want to be friends with a woman who drinks five or more drinks and 16 percent said that men would be most sexually attracted to a woman who drank that much alcohol.

Both estimates were nearly double what the men actually preferred. They also found the women who overestimated the men's preferences were more likely to engage in excessive drinking.

Wow. This is quite an eye-opener for young women out there. Especially those in college and having the time of their lives. I guess in most colleges, both men and women are drinking heavily. It would be weird if they don't. But then they gotta take care of themselves and thus should always keep 'moderation' in mind.
