Women and Shape

I came across an article this morning on the changes to the female body over the last century. Diet Blog goes back to the 1900s when "the Gibson Girl" look was in. It continues through the years up to the 1990's and something that's called the "waif look."
I've noticed the changes myself. I went to high school in the fifties. I was a skinny kid, all legs and a small bust. The popular girls then were what could be called buxom - big breasted and lots of curves. Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell were excellent examples. I, with my boy-like figure, was not.
I began to fill out on the sixties. Guess what? he pendulum took a wild swing to the opposite side. Remember Twiggy? Even her lips looked bony.
According to the Diet Blog:
It is tempting to draw an inverse correlation between the BMI of models and celebrities against that of the general population. It seems that as the average joe (or josephine) got fatter, the people we idolized became thinner.
