Walking Works

With all the products geared toward fitness these days, it can start to get costly. We have to buy special shoes, special clothing, various types of equipment, DVDs, and so on just to keep fit. But, it doesn't have to be all the complicated. Sometimes it can be as simple as a walk. That's right. Just get up, stick your grubs on, slap on some sneaks, and hit the road, one foot in front of the other.

Motivation, however, is still key to this or any type of exercise, and About.com's Walking Guide as some helpful tips on how to keep your walking groove going on, Keeping Interest High in Your Walking Habit:

Join a walking club
Live clubs give you many opportunities to make walking friends, and virtual clubs can also help keep your interest up.

Walking events
This is what got me walking and has kept me walking - enjoying the non-competitive AVA/IVV walking events held throughout the USA, Canada, and Europe. There are group events as well as self-guided trails you can do anytime.

Take a MindWalk
Spice up your walk with activities to relieve stress, stay motivated and nourish your soul.

Racewalk
When regular walking loses its thrill, maybe you need the workout, muscle building, and speed of racewalking. Imagine passing runners in a 10K run while walking - it happens when you learn to racewalk, even for beginners.
