The Importance of Drinking Water

I've mentioned in previous blog entries how important water is for your health. The doctor says drink water, dieticians urge people to drink lots of water. In fact, that bit of advice seems to come at you from a dozen different directions.
There's a reason for all the hype. Water is very important in many aspects of your health. I find it difficult to gulp down the six to eight recommended glasses of water every day, but I do it. It gets easier as you become accustomed to it. And you will feel better for it.
The Online Clinic says this about your body and water:
Although most people don't think of it as a nutrient, water is the most vital nutrient in your daily diet. Think of it this way. You can go for weeks without food but you can only go for a few days without water. So it's very important. It's even more important when you realize that your body's composition is 60 to 75% water. So roughly two thirds of our body weight is water. You can break them down even better by looking at the composition of different body parts. Your blood is 83% water; your muscles are about 75% water; your bones are about 23% water; and your brain is 74% water. So you can see why it's really necessary to drink enough water.
Benefits of drinking water:

- Water helps to control body temperature
- Water increases energy
- Water improves metabolism and aids in weight loss
- Water suppresses appetite, another aid to weight loss
This is just a sampling of the many ways water keeps you healthy, so drink up and make your body happy.
