Once a Year Pill for Osteoporosis
A pill a year to lower the risk of bone fractures? Sounds hard to believe, doesn't it? An article from Ivanhoe's Medical Breakthroughs, however tells of such a pill, The medication, Reclast or aclasta, was tested on a group of women over a three year period with the following results:
Results show Reclast reduced the risk of vertebral fracture by 70 percent during a three-year period and reduced the risk of hip fractures by 41 percent. Other fracture types were also significantly reduced. The study also revealed Reclast significantly improved bone mineral density.

The Clinical Cases and Images Blog states:
The new once-yearly Aclasta manufactured by Novartis has been shown to be as effective as weekly Fosamax in reducing incidence of bone fracture in women with postmenopausal osteoporosislinks (PMO).
