More Women Develping MS
Recent news reveals that more women are developing multiple sclerosis than in the past. The reason isn't known. A report from Ivanhoe's Medical Breakthroughs states:
New research from the University of Alabama shows the ratio of women to men with MS in the United States was two to one in 1940. Now it is about four to one -- an increase of nearly 50 percent per decade.

Possible causes for this anomaly are being investigated. Blogs by Women tells us:
Areas that are receiving a great deal of attention include birth control methodslinks, changes in menstruation, increasing obesity rates, having children later in life, and smoking. Researchers will also take a closer look at those things that women tend to do more frequently than men, such as using cosmetics and hair dyes that may cause vitamin D absorption to be blocked.
