Losing Your Hair?
Filed in archive General Health on April 19, 2007
hair loss isn't nearly as devastating for men as it is for women. Some men have, in fact, used baldness to their advantage. Take, for example, Yul Brynner. Wikipedia tells us:
He was known for his shaved head which he kept as a personal trademark since adopting it in his role in The King and I. The term Yul Brynner became synonymous with baldness during his lifetime.
Another man with trademark baldness is Telly Savalas whose bald head graced the TV screen week after week in his long running TV series, Kojak.
But women? Well, their hair is known as their shining glory. Medical News Today tells us that:
It is a known fact that to a woman, her hair is her crowing glory; and this is what all women generally feel about their hair. So with the loss of their hair, women tend to find a loss in self worth and self esteem. They tend to feel insecure about their appearance and how the world and the people around them will accept them.
How common is hair loss in women? Health and Fitness Solutions Blog tells us:
It is estimated that nearly thirty percent of all people suffering from hair loss or hair loss symptoms and in need of hair loss treatments are indeed women.
And this number is steadily growing each year with an estimation of between twenty and fifty percent of all women will experience a certain amount of hair loss.
Many methods of treamt\ment and prevention are available. The first step should be to find out the underlying cause. Perhaps it's a temporary thing. Talk to your doctor about the choices you have.
