Rooibos Tea--good for pregnancy, breastfeeding, and anytime! For people worried about coffee's caffeine (I'm not!), teas' tanninsand caffeine, and the myriad contrainidications (and they are out there) in different kind of herbs, especially if pregnant or breastfeeding, the Rooibos, African Red Bush tea is for you.
But there are lots more to try. I love collecting herbal teas and marvel at the variety of flavors. SBS Teas carries an excellent selection. Taking about the health benefits of teas, they say:
In September 1998 a group of scientists from around the world met at the US Department of Agriculture in Washington, DC for an International Symposium on Tea and Human Health, co-sponsored by The American Cancer Society, the Nutrition Committee of the American Heart Association, the American Health Foundation, and others. Dozens of new studies reaffirmed earlier work done in Europe and Asia that three or more 6 oz. cups of tea a day help fend off cancer, reduce heart disease, fight the negative effects of aging, and promote elimination of dietary fats, among other health benefits.
For health reasons, I gave up coffee a few months ago. Since then, I've become a tea connoisseur. My favorite? Well, they're all good, but I love the flavor of chai tea, and you can even buy that in a variety of flavors.
