Dry, Itchy Skin

Dry, Itchy Skin

How does your skin feel after all the cold weather and high winds? If you're anything like me, you catch yourself scratching before you even realize it.

You've probably tried several remedies (that likely didn't work) and you're looking for more. Well, this morning, in iVillage Wellness, I found lots of ideas.

Has your skin suddenly turned into a dry, itchy mess? Ah, it must be wintertime. When the outdoor temperature drops and indoor heating cranks up, your skin is officially under assault. Chronic low humidity levels and wintertime habits such as long, hot baths can make your delicate dermis crack, peel, and itch — not a pleasant feeling. Winter-stressed skin is also less effective at providing a barrier against infection — severely dry skin can split and even bleed, creating tiny havens where bacteria can take hold. So what can you do to save your skin? Launch a counterattack.

Page two of the article gives us a list of weapons to use against dry, itchy skin. There are strategies, too.

    Hi,
I too face itching problem during winter season. I personally use Magicool plus Itchy Skin spray which gives me instant and long lasting relief from itching. I think this is one of the best solutions to get relief from itching problem.

Hi,This may be of interest. My husband suffers from eczema which has been particularly acute over this winter. We live in Northumberland UK so we have had more than our fair share of cold weather!
He has recently started using a special soap with E45 as a moisturizer. It has had a dramatic effect!.The itchyness has almost completely gone.He is now looking forward to the hotter weather, which he used to dread as he is also fair haired and burns mercilessly.
Have a look at http://www.skinsalveation.com.It was recommended by our Doctor. It has been around for years and we had never heard of it.
    Best of luck,Jane
