The occasional corndog or doughnut might be okay, but a steady diet of these fat-drenched goodies can ruin your diet, your digestion and your health.
According to the Edmonton, Alberta Sun, talking about the food at the world famous calgary stampede:
It might be better to describe the food at the Calgary Stampede as a potential minefield - full of dangerously high calories to satisfy even those with the most pronounced sweet tooth.
"They don't provide you with lots of nutrition in that they are very low in fibre, very low in fruit," warned Carole Dobson, a registered dietitian with Health Stand Nutrition in Calgary. "They're basically just very high carbohydrates, starchy type foods that have, unfortunately, a lot of calories and a lot of sugar and they're not a very healthy food by any means."
Enjoy your summer, even the food, but make things like corndogs, foot-long hot dogs and doughnuts special treats, not every day fare.
